Welcome to my experience of motorcycles.
For me motorcycling is a way to get to work. But then again I guess it is more than that, otherwise I wouldn't keep riding all year round in (virtually) all weathers.
I rode my first motorcycle on my 17th birthday, riding my father's Honda C70 step-thru. I never bothered with the test, since I passed my car test within a few months.
A few years later I rode a Yamaha 100cc bike in Pakistan when working there in the early 1990's This was considered a 'big' bike, since most others were 50 - 100cc.
When I changed jobs in 1998, I either had to get a second car, or a motorbike. I took my CBT (Compulsory Basic Training), and decided to get a CG 125. After 18 months, I needed to take my test, so after that I moved onto the Majesty, and a regular trip across the Severn Bridge to Cardiff.
A further 3 years and 20,000 miles, I found a Silverwing scooter and moved up. I then found I could cover even more miles so 3 years and 36,000 miles later I moved onto the BMW. And that is an ongoing story!
